Employee Spotlight: Yvette Gonzalez, Customer Success.

In honor of Women’s History Month in March, we are kicking off a MFour Profile series to celebrate female MFour employees and their contributions. Yvette Gonzalez is the VP of customer success. In her role, Yvette oversees the engagement strategy, research services, and project fulfillment units for our customer success team so that they can effectively work together to provide value in our MFour Studio ecosystem. Outside of work, you’ll find her at the local coffee shop or brewery, grilling, and working out at the gym. 

What do you do at MFour?

I lead a group of talented people that make sure our customers are successful with every interaction they have with MFour. We have recently transitioned from an operations team to a customer success team, and it has been amazing to see the team grow so quickly into their new roles.

What do you enjoy most about MFour?

The people! When I started four years ago every team member said they enjoy the people at MFour and during the four years we have continued to add team members that share our common values and make our culture better.

What brought you to MFour?

MFour has a great environment for change and with change comes challenges. Challenges give you opportunities for growth which keeps you motivated and engaged. I am learning so much daily that I often reflect on how coming to MFour has been one of the best decisions to enhance my career. MFour was always ahead of the industry, and I wanted in!

What has been your favorite project while working at MFour?

My favorite project at MFour is helping build out MFour Studio. We are truly the only place where you can combine survey data with behavior data and the UI that we have built is incredible. We continue to challenge ourselves to look for improvements to make it better and simpler. It has been quite the journey and we still have so much more to show the industry. 

What is your favorite MFour Studio feature?

Oh, this is tricky. I would say it is a tie. I enjoy being able to build custom charts and filters in our sandbox environment. It takes the behavior data to the next level, and it is extremely impactful. My other favorite feature is the education center which the customer success team built. It has videos, tutorials, syndicated insights and so many other powerful resources to educate and enhance our users’ experiences in the ecosystem. 

What do you think makes MFour’s culture unique?

Earlier I mentioned the people and now I am going to double down. The managers do a great job of hiring great people and with great people, the culture will always thrive. We do a great job of always taking care of each other and understanding that your success is my success, and we all learn together when something doesn’t go as planned. We probably have the best cross-department collaboration that I have experienced in my career at all levels but especially with our leadership team.

How would you describe your leadership style?

I would say my leadership style is more of a coaching strategy. I will help my team and give them the fundamentals, but I trust them to go out on the field and make the plays. Most of the time they think of solutions that I wasn’t thinking of which is the best-case scenario. They all have different personalities and strengths, and it is my job to put them in the right position to succeed and grow. I have been extremely lucky in my career with the team members I have been able to mentor and manage. They make me better and I am truly grateful for that.

Do you have any advice for the next generation of female leaders?

I have 2 pieces of advice. First, go into every situation with one of your goals being to learn something. Be a sponge! Soak it all in because usually if you are open to it, you will learn how to do something better or sometimes what not to do and both are extremely valuable. Second, as a leader, you must remember that you are working for your team, not them working for you. You have the responsibility to set them up for success, to trust their decision-making, and to give them the opportunity to fail because with failure comes growth. 

Who has been the most influential female role model in your professional life?

I have been fortunate to have great female role models throughout my career. My first four managers were female, and I feel like that foundation set me up for success. They taught me so many lessons and I would not be where I am if they did not believe in my abilities and support me. They all share common traits: brave, open-mindedness, kindness, passion, and adaptability. Adaptability is key because as a female leader, you never know what is going to be thrown your way and you must be able to think fast and make decisions that might be uncomfortable but that you feel confident in.
