If you are new to MFour there’s a good chance Shireen was the first person you met on your journey to join the team. That’s because she is our Talent Acquisition Manager and acts as a guide, helping new recruits through the hiring process at MFour. When she’s not working, she likes to spend time with her friends and cat, Bixby, and learn about humans and different forms of communication.
What do you do at MFour?
I am responsible for sourcing, attracting and hiring new talent at MFour. I meet every potential new hire and walk them through our company as well as ensure MFour is the right fit for them. I also manage the interview process from beginning to end.
Why did you decide to become a recruiter?
I studied psychology for my undergraduate degree and chose to go the organizational development route rather than clinical psychology. With that said I have always been interested in why people take and leave jobs. I love helping people make the right decision for their careers.
What advice do you have for people looking to start their careers?
Figure out what you are good at and what you like to do. Once you know those two things, this can help you identify what types of positions to pursue.
What advice do you have for people preparing to interview at MFour?
Do research on the company. We are doing some incredible things and if you’re passionate about what you do and interested in what we do then the combination of those two things can help you accelerate.
What motivates you to come to work every day?
The people I work with. I have made great friends at MFour and have learned so much from our leadership. The best part of my job is getting off a phone screen and knowing we are going to hire that candidate. Strong candidates are the biggest motivator.
What is a lesson that you learned early in your career which you carry with you?
Interpersonal communication skills and empathy are the most important things to be able to work along with my team. I make sure to understand what the situation may be presenting and how to effectively communicate for a positive outcome.
What’s an accomplishment you’re proud of working on at MFour?
I have spearheaded the hiring of over 100 people with MFour over the past four and a half years. Seeing all these team members grow as well as assist in the company’s growth is more rewarding than anything else. I’m such a fan of the people that work here and feel so much joy when they get promoted, complete a difficult task, or receive shout-outs from their team members or clients. Every time I hear something positive about the team members, I know I did my job right.
How important is diversity at the workplace to you?
Having a variety of perspectives in the workplace can help us accelerate. When you have people with different points of view coming together, we can create more as a team. More important than diversity is inclusion. It is important that all opinions are shared and heard. As a company, we maintain a diverse environment and do all we can to ensure everyone feels included in our culture.
